Oil leaks detection

Optimal oil level and oil pressure in the engine is an important factor in its long-term operation

Oil leaks and subsequent possible oil starvation can lead to accelerated engine wear and can damage it beyond repair. In addition oil leak itself can be a symptom of a number of engine problems. On top of serious engine damage, oil leak leads to increased oil consumption.

That is why we recommend contacting Starlight Automotive for your regular oil leak checks.. That will save you time and money in the long run.

Why it’s important to leave oil leak detention to professional mechanics

Although the detection of oil leaks seems like a simple procedure it bears a number of difficulties. Engine oil leak can be in different places in the engine - engine valve, under the bolts, under other fasteners of the power unit, under the oil filter and other parts. Also timely detection of an oil leak can be hindered by accumulated dirt or dust.

Sometimes it is necessary to flush the engine. Especially if the oil has already contaminated a large part of the engine or transmission. Experts do not recommend doing the cleaning yourself, it can harm the car.

It is best to take the car to professionals of Starlight Automotive. The reason is simple. We have the best conditions and tools as well as experienced mechanics who can quickly determine the cause of the leak.

Places where you can see oil leaks

  • From under the engine gaskets
  • Through the cracks in the engine
  • Broken or worn engine bolts
  • Defective Components
  • Abnormal crankcase pressure
  • Incorrect installation of engine parts

How to deal with oil leak

It all depends where exactly the oil is leaking from. Quite often, oil leak from the engine occurs due to poor crankcase ventilation. It is known that some of the exhaust gases enter the crankcase through the piston rings especially on a worn engine. The gases accumulated inside the crankcase create excess pressure, and the crankcase ventilation system is designed specifically to reduce pressure. If the channels of the ventilation system are contaminated with excess pressure that is created, oil can be “squeezed” out of the motor. In this case, it is enough to restore the normal operation of the ventilation system.

Either way whatever failure is causing the problem Starlight technicians will quickly find an oil leak in the engine and fix the issue.
